The people, nature and landscapes of the Bay...

The Ecomuseum of the Bay is located in an old farmhouse on the edge of the salt meadows and has a remarkable view of the Bay, Mont-Saint-Michel and Tombelaine.

This interpretation centre shows you how the Bay's natural environments work, how man has exploited these areas for centuries and how they have evolved over the ages. On the edge of the shoreline, with a breathtaking view of the Mont, the site offers you the opportunity to discover "Man, nature and the landscapes of the Bay". An essential step to understand everything about this Unesco World Heritage Bay.

Discover and understand...
Over 400 m2, an exhibition on man, nature and the landscapes of the Bay allows you to discover the different environments - sea, land and air - and their "occupants". Go back in time to understand the formation of the Bay and the action of man on these landscapes. Follow a large fresco that allows you to follow the life of several "star" animals throughout the seasons. Decipher this fascinating, complex but fragile ecosystem. Foot fishing, which is still practised in the bay, and the manufacture of fireproof salt, which disappeared in the middle of the 19th century, are highlighted. These different areas, enhanced by films, models, interactive terminals and a salt-maker's workshop, are accessible to young and old alike.

Themed tours and workshops during the school holidays
The visit is completed by a presentation of human activity in the Bay of Mont: from salt production to fishing on foot and hiking. On Wednesdays (April to September), discover the salt meadows and learn about the salt harvesting techniques used from the 10th to the 19th century in the Avranchin. Other meetings and events are offered by the ecomuseum: guided walks, museum night, nature festival, fishing festival, temporary exhibition, heritage days, etc.
